Responding to this gap, a group founded Disha \u2013 a Special Education Center. Starting with 17 students and limited resources, Disha rapidly expanded with support from the Khaitan family and the public. By 1995, Disha was officially established, accommodating 100 students by 2000.<\/p><p>Financial support from the East organization helped Disha focus on rehabilitation and advocacy, forming &#8220;The Friends of Disha&#8221; group. Disha added specialized educator training to its repertoire and received funds from the Nando Peretti Foundation. In 2002, Ms. Elsa Peretti pledged support for a barrier-free building. In 2004, Disha relocated to Nirman Nagar to solve space constraints. Upon starting specialized educator training, Disha got international attention and received funds from the Nando Peretti Foundation. Post that, Disha&#8217;s role expanded to a State Nodal Agency Center, becoming a Resource Center for various disabilities. <br \/>&#8216;Special Olympics Bharat&#8217; was launched in 2007, leading to athletes like Nand Kishore excelling.<\/p><p>So far, there has been global recognition and noteworthy collaborations, including with prestigious universities. Disha&#8217;s confidence has since grown, by launching community programs and vocational training partnerships. They won the FORHEX Award and now seek continued support for their mission to create a safe space for people with multiple
